The DR-44WLB revolutionizes compact recorders, thanks to its Wi-Fi capabilities. A free iOS or Android app provides remote control, file transfer and audio streaming capabilities to your smartphone or tablet. Start recording from the stage, or from anywhere in the room. Set trim levels, check meters and control transports. At the end of the show, transfer the recording directly to your smartphone, so you can upload it to SoundCloud or Facebook without delay, or email it to your fans.

The DR-44WLB features a stereo pair of high-quality electret microphones based on high-performance transducers in a coincidental (XY) arrangement. These microphones can handle high sound pressure levels without distortion. Two lockable XLR sockets for external microphones or sources are also available.

With its four independent recording tracks, built-in console with reverb effect and bounce function, the DR-44WLB offers the possibility of creating true multitrack recordings. You can also record two times two tracks simultaneously, in different formats (WAV/MP3) or with different recording level settings.

Once again, TASCAM is revolutionizing the world of portable recorders! The DR-44WLB creates its own Wi-Fi network, and a free dedicated app allows remote control without touching it. Since the range of a Wi-Fi transmission is about 20 meters, this feature allows the recorder to be placed in locations that would otherwise be out of range. Beyond simply starting/stopping recording, you can check and adjust recording levels from any iOS or Android device. All aspects of recording are accessible via Wi-Fi.

In addition, it is possible to check the audio after recording via Wi-Fi. All you need to do is connect headphones to your smartphone. With functionality, flexibility and range far beyond that of an infrared remote control - and reliability approaching that of wired remotes - this portable recorder allows far more freedom of placement than previous models. It is also possible to connect via a router or an existing access point. The advantages are that you can use other web services, such as e-mail or sharing portals, at the same time with your portable device, and the Wi-Fi range, and therefore the extent of the control area, can be greater, depending on the capabilities of your router. On the other hand, a direct connection is ideal when there is no Wi-Fi available or you don't have permission to use it.
